But for me, it did what it said on the tin. But one of the recommendations I make often gets some unexpected resistance. You can isolate your essential user data from the operating system by storing it on the larger, secondary drive.

As far as I can tell there is no limiting jumper setting that I use (even though the drive has such features). The difference in performance between a 7,200 RPM boot drive and a 10,000 RPM boot drive is not subtle in any way.
More details below: My boot (C) drive is SSD, 250GB booted as MBR. If you plan to replace your boot drive with the new drive and don't have an empty bay, your upgrade will involve more steps than we can cover here. In fact my home computer has a change journal of about 12GB. If you want to copy to another disk instead of to a file, you can change the of argument to a different /dev/diskM.
