There's a hotfix for a defrag problem that might relate.http://support.microsoft.com/kb/916731Another describes why you might not get 100% defrag report.http://support.microsoft.com/kb/105068You may in some instances need to run chkdsk first before defrag will I've tried a "clean boot," and Heavens knows what else (I'm not that computer literate), but I still have that lag! The log shows that many files did not get defragmented.

Check out the forums and get free advice from the experts. If the filesystem is corrupt defrag will not run.As for the free space, 90% is plenty.
