Nope not really. Put drive back in, removed the USB-CD drive so the program kept asking me for the "D:\I386\asms" path. I had a similar problem upgrading my OS from XP Home to XP-professional (I use Dutch version,so there can be slight difference in terminology) ERROR: unrepairable error, DATA error (cyclic redundance I hope this helps.

Restarted computer and now it will not let me boot from the CD fro a fresh try at the repair. Asms Windows Xp Service Pack 2 and it started up loading again. No need to swap out anything. Please try the other stuff out first but if all fails try this before throwing the pc out of the window!
