Bad hardware was the ultimate problem! tried will's simple instructions to change the boot order and it worked! I had the CD as the first boot device, changed it to the third, so that first is HDD, second is floppy, third is CD and that worked. this content You should be able to boot from the XP CD or simply insert the XP CD to get the needed files.
